For the dumplings
- 1½ cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tsp baking powder

Instructions
1. Brown the beef
Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon. Drain excess fat if needed.
2. Cook the vegetables
Add onion, carrots, and celery to the pot. Cook for 5–7 minutes until slightly softened. Stir in garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
3. Simmer the stew
Pour in beef broth, then add thyme, rosemary, salt, and pepper. Bring to a gentle boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 15 minutes to develop flavor.
4. Thicken the sauce
Stir in the cornstarch mixture and cook for 2–3 minutes until the broth thickens into a rich gravy.
5. Prepare the dumplings
In a bowl, combine flour, baking powder, and salt. Add milk and mix gently until a soft dough forms.
6. Cook the dumplings
Drop spoonfuls of dough over the simmering beef mixture. Cover the pot and cook on low heat for 12–15 minutes until dumplings are fluffy and fully cooked.
7. Serve warm
Spoon into bowls and serve hot for a comforting homemade meal.
