Ingredients

For the Beef

  • 1 lb flank steak or sirloin, thinly sliced against the grain
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch

For the Stir-Fry

  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 yellow bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 green bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 small onion, sliced
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tbsp fresh ginger, grated

For the Sauce

  • 2 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tbsp hoisin sauce
  • ¼ cup beef broth
  • black pepper to taste

Optional garnish:

  • sliced green onions
  • sesame seeds

Instructions

1. Prepare the beef

In a bowl, combine sliced beef with soy sauce and cornstarch. Mix well until the beef is evenly coated. Let it rest for about 10 minutes while preparing the vegetables.

2. Sear the beef

Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a large skillet or wok over high heat. Add the beef in a single layer and cook for 1–2 minutes per side until browned. Remove from the skillet and set aside.

3. Cook the vegetables

Add the remaining oil to the skillet. Sauté garlic and ginger for about 30 seconds until fragrant. Add sliced bell peppers and onion, and stir-fry for 3–4 minutes until slightly tender but still crisp.

4. Combine everything

Return the cooked beef to the skillet. Add oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, and beef broth. Stir well and cook for 2–3 minutes until the sauce thickens and coats the beef and vegetables evenly.

5. Garnish and serve

Season with black pepper. Garnish with green onions or sesame seeds if desired. Serve hot.
